刘选让，1955年出生。1975年入伍在新疆军区从事美术工作，1980年就学于西安美术学院国画系，1985年在解放军艺术学院学习，1987年在西安美术学院攻读硕士学位研究生，1989年入中国美术家协会会员，1990年硕士研究生毕业并留校任教，1996年任副教授、研究生导师，2002年任教授，2005年至今任文化部中国艺术研究院中国画院画家、研究生课程教学部主任、教授、研究生导师，中国美术家协会民族美术艺委会委员,中国画学会理事，中国工笔画学会副秘书长、中国工笔画学会常务理事，清华大学美术学院客座教授 ，中国前外交官联谊会五洲书画院院长，中国前外交官联谊会特邀理事。 Liu Xuanrang was born in 1955. He joined the army in Xinjiang Military Region as an art worker in 1975, enrolled in Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts Chinese Painting Department in 1980, got into People’s Liberation Army Academy of Arts in 1985, studied for a master’s degree in Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 1987, became a member of China Artists Association in 1989, graduated with a master’s degree and stayed at the academy as a teacher in 1990, served as an associate professor and master tutor in 1996 and took the professorship in 2002. From 2005 till now he has been a painter in Chinese painting Institute of Chinese National Academy of Arts, director of Graduate Course Teaching Department, where he is also a professor and master tutor, a member of National Commission for Fine Arts of China Artists Association, deputy secretary general of China Hue Art Society, executive member of China Hue Art Society, a visiting professor of Academy of Art & Design, Tsinghua University, president of Painting and Calligraphy Academy, Association of Former Diplomats of China, and a special director of Association of Former Diplomats of China.
